Ella è quanto de ben pò far natura

Edizioni Librarsi have announced the third book in the Blood Sword series, L'Artiglio del Demone. And how about that cover art? I wish the books could have gone out with such magnificent cover paintings back in the day. It almost makes me want to write the whole saga up as a Jewelspider adventure -- and then I could finally cap it all with the finale it deserves. Well, once I've got the Jewelspider rules published, and Tetsubo, and Abraxas, and Λ, it'll be the very next thing on the list.

  1. Selfishly can I humbly beseech thee to bring forward the Blood Sword saga as a Jewelspider or even better perhaps a dual stated Jewelspider and Dragon Warriors adventure campaign? Twould be truly epic!

    1. If it's epics you want, Nigel, Oliver Johnson is your man. He has at least two lined up (his Scardic campaign, which we used to playtest Jewelspider 1.0, and his old Lightbringers game that we're adapting to Legend) that will hopefully be included in the Jewelspider book.

  2. Woot! Can’t wait. No pressure but in my mind I’ve allocated Jewelspider as a birthday present for my brother. You’ve got until Boxing Day less however long it takes to ship to the bottom of the world... :-)

  3. Hi Dave, here is another request for you to unsheathe the Blood Sword one more time, as a Jewelspider adventure, and hone the ending to perfection !

Our heroes shall awake, and realise that the 'dungeon crawl' was but a Bobby Ewing-esque dream...and now the true Apocalypse has awoken around them... but with smiles on their faces like Avon at the end of Blake's Seven, they face the final challenge !

    1. The ending of Blake's Seven is definitely the right note to go for, John!

  4. I noticed that you pared down the Adjust scrolls from the scriptorium in Book 1.
I used to exchange Endurance for Psychic Ability for the Enchanter. Getting an additional 6, giving a 3rd rank 15 at the end of Book 1 (with the Ring of Sorcery).
A glass jaw though, as Endurance was only 5 for a 2nd rank Enchanter.
    Still made for fun play...
Nemesis bolt as the opening move...

    1. I had to tone that down a bit. It was almost as exploitable as the raw power ability that somehow got added to elementalists in the new edition of Dragon Warriors. Even a dragon couldn't hope to take on a low- to middle-ranking elementalist. Hopefully they've fixed that in the current book.

  5. For the Quarterstaff technique for Sages, I presume it only works with a staff?
Also, will it affect non-humans? As the anatomy differs...
Questions at the back of my mind since the 1980s.
    Thanks Dave!

    1. Yes, it only applies when using a staff. I did consider marking some adversaries as impossible to push off balance with a quarterstaff, but decided in the end that it's an aikido-like mastery involving leverage, so even the biggest foes can have their momentum turned against them.

  6. I wish Russ Nicholson would produce lineart drawings for the Taashim art panels in the Templar HQ in Book 3, and the view of Crescentium from the balcony of the Azure Chamber from the Heart of the Sunrise Inn in Book 4...
Or perhaps some fanart of the artists from your latest Bloodsword books?

    1. I think Russ is always open to doing commissions. Why not drop him a line?

  7. Hi Dave,
In Book 3, the Genie's Restoration wish will give a +3 damage sword or Quarterstaff.
Can this be applied to an existing weapon like the Blade Sharpening spell in Book 5?
    Thanks!

    1. I'm afraid not. The jinni supplies you with a replacement weapon from a long-lost treasure hoard; he's not enhancing a weapon you already have.
