The Owl Service especially. As for Red Shift, I think my mum (who, to her credit, put us on to Brisingamen) banned me from reading it. Possibly too much sex. Some years later (but still before 20) I picked it up but could make neither head nor tail of it! +1 for Amazon Wishlist...Cameron Smithhttp://draconismag.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2141372262111342844.post-39243369946053730392010-08-23T22:22:43.244+01:002010-08-23T22:22:43.244+01:00Have you read Garner's book Red Shift, Kieran?...Have you read Garner's book Red Shift, Kieran? I always wondered if the tiny goblin caves in the Dragon Warriors adventure "The One-Eyed God" were drawn from there.Kieran Tnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2141372262111342844.post-73769753354843827762010-08-13T18:28:06.917+01:002010-08-13T18:28:06.917+01:00I guess I'm imagining a sort of Tim Burton ver...I guess I'm imagining a sort of Tim Burton version of Moon of Gomrath :)Dave Morrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14468228790874490693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2141372262111342844.post-77768316006007904772010-08-13T18:09:23.489+01:002010-08-13T18:09:23.489+01:00I visited Alderley Edge years ago. It was amazing to experience the place and see how well Garner evoked the setting.

I'm not sure if you are aware of the sequel "The Moon of Gomrath". Not quiet as good as the first book but worth it for the chapter with The Wild Hunt alone. Garner seemed to gloss over any lasting psychological scarring the children may have had. :)Ruddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12174843939252395797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2141372262111342844.post-38868162377469522602010-08-13T17:43:50.225+01:002010-08-13T17:43:50.225+01:00I agree, Rudd. In fact, her parents' house was the one designated as belonging to the Morrigan.

I dread to think what post-traumatic stress would have done to those kids, though. If Garner wrote a sequel with them as teenagers, they'd be as crazy as Sarah Connor in Terminator 2.Dave Morrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14468228790874490693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2141372262111342844.post-26206946878258640302010-08-13T14:39:16.213+01:002010-08-13T14:39:16.213+01:00The Weirdstone of Brisingamen is one of my favouri...The Weirdstone of Brisingamen is one of my favourite book and the chase through the mines is fantastic.Ruddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12174843939252395797noreply@blogger.com
