WOTT no excuses?

If you don't know by now that the Kickstarter campaign for The Way of the Tiger has but a day or two to run, there's really no point me telling you again, is there? But you might want to hear it from the mouths of the chaps who originally conceived of the most famous non-violent professional killer in the whole of gamebook fantasy. For lo, here are interviews with Jamie Thomson and Mark Smith.

Jamie and Mark talk about the origins of the (very neat) tactical combat system, how the books were written, the real nature of the world of Orb (more Greek city-states than Oriental fiefs), and the plans for new books and apps.

There's still (just) time to get in on the act. Here's that link again. And if the total hits $40,000 (which it very well might) there'll be a video interview with Jamie and Mark giving away even more Orbsome secrets.

My work here is done.

  1. Already going for the whole set, but I think I may have to get you guys to risk writers cramp and donate a little more for you to sign em =)

  2. Nowt to do with me, Morgan, so pledge away. It's Jamie's and Mark's fingers that will suffer as a result :-D

    1. LOL, getting my gamebook supermo's mixed.. whoops. However they will have to risk the cramp as i want them SIGNED! Most expensive books I have ever bought.. until Fabled lands 7-12 are released and Bloodsword go back into print anyway ;) (cough hint cough)

    2. Blood Sword should be nice and affirdable. Megara are going to focus on WOTT for the foreseeable, including the amazing RPG they've had in the works for a while now, so probably Blood Sword will just be quietly (and cheaply!) re-released as paperbacks.

    3. Affordable, that is. Darned iPad "keyboard"!

    4. Bloodsword paid for a nice night out about 8-10 years ago. Went to a car boot sale, saw it (book 1) in a box for 50p in good condition. Sold it for £50 to some guy in Hawaii that same day 3 hours later on eBay. I made a lot more on Fabled Lands but that is another story

      Happy days

But yes, a re-release would be stunning right now as I would love to play them again.

eBook versions for all would be really nice

  3. "Your work here is done"? Ah, Dave, you've done far more than your share, and done so with humor. Thank you very much for making such neat posts.

And thanks to Morgan and all the other backers who've been supporting us this whole while. Just a little longer, a little more asking people for help, and a lot more shouting "we're over here!" to the internet, and we'll see the final total!

  5. Pleased to see that this project has been a real success. I'm looking forward to receiving my books, but also looking forward to seeing the BloodSword kickstarter!
Dave, out of interest, how much would need to be raised to get the next book of Mirabilis published, it would be really nice to see that series progressed?
Also, what about Dragon Warriors? The day jobs of the SerpentKingGames authors do seem to have delayed the players book somewhat - maybe future released could be kickstarted??

    1. I have raised the idea of a DW Kickstarter with the SKG guys, Gavin, but they don't feel the game has enough of a fanbase now for that to work. Nothing daunted, Leo and I plan to do a Mirabilis campaign in the near future.

  6. Good news! I look forward to more Mirabilis. Hopefully the DW players book is getting very close. I guess the fanbase DW is probably only around 100 now, real shame.

    1. True, although most Kickstarters do pretty well on 100-200 backers.
