Secret lore

I keep forgetting about this, but Mikael Louys of Megara Entertainment recently reminded me that a Players' Book has been released for my old Dragon Warriors roleplaying game.

This ties in with the Magnum Opus edition of a few years back and has new skills and three new adventuring professions, as well as rules about daily life in the world of Legend. Sounds great. Now, if only it were available on Createspace or Amazon I'd have a few Christmas gifts sorted early.

UPDATE (Sept 9): And lo! Because our regular correspondent Anonymous requested it, here's the book's cover artwork unobscured by the title.

  1. A shame the art is covered up by the title. It's hard to see what they're fighting.

    1. Some kind of Cthulhoid hydra? Well, you make a good point, Anon (welcome back yet again btw), and I guess it would have been better if the text had been placed in the large blank space at the top of the picture. But don't look at me.

    2. That Cthulhoid hydra seems really hungry, too - it's already eaten the apostrophe from the title.

  2. Oh, so THAT'S what they're fighting.

    1. Yep, henge wyrms (5 hit dice) using the dreaded Celtic Knot attack.

  3. It's easily available print-on-demand at drivethrurpg.com if you're after a copy. It's printed in the UK.

    2. Yeah, just that who has an account with DriveThru? And who doesn't have an account with Amazon? But when I get around to setting up a DriveThruRPG account I will buy a copy and post a review.

    3. Well, I have an account with DriveThru, and so do a few other roleplayers. It's the only way to get some books now and the easiest way to get some others. Amazon does not yet have it all.

    4. You're not telling me I've finally met somebody who *doesn't* have an Amazon account, are you? :-)

    5. Seriously, every game publisher who has a PDF version of their books up on DriveThru should immediately upload them to Createspace. It'd take them a few minutes per book, and they don't even need a different ISBN. The books would then be available worldwide on Amazon. They can stay on DriveThru too. I wish whoever has the Tekumel licence would do that - by Ksarul's silver smile, I'd do it myself for them this afternoon, just to get the books out there. I suppose I'd do it for the Dragon Warriors books too, come to that, having the necessary quarter-hour spare at the moment.

    6. Would be great if they did the Tekumel novels too! I've got the first two, but Lords of Tsamra is over £100 in paperback!

    7. A lot of roleplaying publishers are about 5 years behind the curve wrt self-publishing. Mind you, I'm not sure that whoever now controls the Tekumel rights is particularly interested in making it accessible to a wide market. Give it a few years and there'll be yet another set of rules, I bet.
