Triumph of the pill

Scared yet? If you'd rather retreat from the real world into adventures with entirely imaginary bugbears, here's your reminder that Can You Escape The Vampire's Lair? is still on sale at the special Halloween price of £7.99.

Tomorrow we'll shoot forward to the end of the 23rd century. Come to think of it, I might stay there for the next four years.

  1. Can you escape the vampire's lair is great fun... and I like ow the rules are optimised for a modern reader.

I had three goes at Curse of the Pharoah last night, playing "properly" with the dice and not cheating like I would as a child... and it's tough! On one of them I did manage to reach the tomb. On the first go I died in the second fight!

    1. Thanks, James. Maybe I should update some of the other Golden Dragons -- or even have a go at streamlining the combat in Blood Sword for modern gaming tastes.

    2. I think I *did* have phenomenally bad luck with the dice rolls, but the lack of healing did me in. I entered the first combat with 28 VITALITY vs 9, and ended victorious with 11 left. The second combat was it.

As a kid I read and enjoyed the Golden Dragons, and the Fighting Fantasy books, but often didn't bother with the dice.

I *did* play Walls of Spyte properly though when I got it from Hay on Wye, and that was a true triumph!

    3. That's impressive! In one Blood Sword book I even went so far as to sanction playing without the dice.
