Free Fabled Lands OST from Megara Entertainment

Fighting FantasyMore staggering generosity from munificent Mikael Louys, madcap maestro of triple-A app developers Megara Entertainment. Hmm... sorry if that came out sounding a bit too Stan Lee; my only excuse is that I've been following his tweets. Anyway, Megara are making the original soundtrack to the Fabled Lands app (iPad here, iPhone here) available as a free giveaway. So you don't even need to buy the app now: you can just download the free soundtrack and listen to it while playing the print books, and all you'll be missing then is the additional flavour text, the scintillating colour artwork, the extra content and minigames, and the automated maps, ability roll resolution, character sheet and quest log. Or you could just get the app - which incidentally reached #3 in the Australian app store last week. What can I say? Them Aussies got good taste.

  1. Erm, I won't lie Dave, seeing that typical female video game character (skimpy clothing and all) in your post isn't exactly inspiring . . .

  2. Actually, Hamza, the blokes in the Fabled Lands game have ponytails too :-) At any rate, the soundtrack is free so even if you don't like the app (and I know some haven't been taken with the JRPG-style visuals) it's a nice gesture by Megara to all FL fans, with or without iPhones!

  3. Duh - I just realized Mikael sent me some of the OST cover artwork, so I'll switch that for the fit bird in tight leather. Done.

  4. Wow number 3 in Australia?! Is that number 3 for all apps or just a sub category such as role playing games? If it's all apps that's an incredible achievement. Number 3 for any category is still pretty good though! Hope it's matched with strong revenues for all involved!

  6. Hi Colin - I think that's just for role-playing game apps, but it's still a very healthy figure. All we need is for another 50 territories to follow suit and the future of FL is assured :-)

  7. It would probably help a great deal if one of the iPhone game app-oriented websites (such as TouchArcade or Slide to Play) posted a review of the product. It really isn't getting enough publicity in the right arenas.

  8. Yeh!! Good news all round what with th #3 rank in Australia and th free soundtrack! I finally got th cash together to get th app and i got to say i'm pretty impressed with it, especially th odd bit of new flavour text, new items (fishing too!) Can't wait for th rest to follow (books and potential buyers). Th backing sounds are a nice touch too - bar chatter, water sounds etc.

  9. No doubt. Megara have sent the press release out to all these sites, but it does seem that reviews have been hard to come by. Same problem that the reissued FL print books had - great reviews on Amazon, but relatively few elsewhere.

  11. The music is really good. The art is okay except why is it a different logo to the books?

  12. Josh, it's pretty nice, huh? I might play that as backing music when we're trying out the Fabled Lands RPG.

Well, it's a different product, Anonymous. The familiar FL logo is on both the print books and the forthcoming role-playing books, but the app is its own thing with its own look and feel.
