New news! And today we have two items worth running up to the roof and shouting about. First, I heard from our printers that the files for Fabled Lands books 1-4 have been passed. Even now, proof copies are on their way to the Fabled Lands offices. Barring any unforeseen disasters, that means we are on course to have those books on sale by December 1st.
Second, I've just been told by Mikael Louys, indefatigable boss of Megara Entertainment, that the Fabled Lands iPad site is now live. There's plenty of incredible artwork, maps and other stuff to delight any FL fan, whether you've got an iPad or not. So why are you still here? Go feast your eyes on the goodies Mikael and his team have laid out for you.
It's funny that they decide to block Megara's website now that the game is nearing completion, as it was not blocked before. *sigh* As for the print titles, Barnes and Noble members receive free 3 day shipping on purchases! I definitely have a members card, so I cannot wait! If Barnes and Noble or Amazon decides to have a sale, will you still receive the full amount, less manufacturing costs and such?
ReplyDeleteI hope they do have a sale, Mike. Any reductions they offer will come off their share, not ours - and the cheaper the price, the more new players we might attract.
ReplyDeleteThe Barnes and Noble deal is 10% off all products and free 3 day shipping for members. I believe that bestsellers are 30% off, but at that time, books 7-12 will be completed, so that sort of cancels it out in terms of needed sales.
ReplyDeleteHi Dave! Do you know when it will be possible to preorder the books on amazon or other online bookstores, more or less? At the moment only the the 1st seems to be scheduled... Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteIt should be very soon, only a matter of weeks. We've okayed the first proofs, which was the last step needed to put the books into the distribution system.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! I'll keep an eye on the site every day, so I won't miss them!
ReplyDeleteEvery day is important, because I live in Italy, and if I want to have them before Christmas I must order them as quickly as possible. ;)
I just heard from the distributor that Book One should be listed on Amazon and Barnes & Noble by December 1st. Books 2-4 will be about a week after that. According to one report, the books will be available on Agapea.com, which may be the best place for non-UK European customers to order from.
ReplyDeletei always wanted to complete my fabled lands collection... thanks to you dave i can finally achieve that =)
ReplyDeleteDon't thank me, thank Franklin Johnson - he's the gentleman whose generosity funds all of Fabled Lands LLP's projects.
ReplyDelete:) I am looking forward to buying and seeing these books. While I would love to buy the Fabled Lands iPad app, I do not own iPad or iPod, though a book with a single pretty artwork with every section would be very nice. But sadly a distant dream :)
ReplyDeleteStill, I will wish you great success!
Joe, take my advice and buy an iPad. You need never buy a dead tree book ever again :-)
ReplyDeleteHowever, talking of print books, UK residents may have noticed that Fabled Lands Book 1 is now available for pre-order on Amazon.co.uk. And with free postage in the UK, too! Go to http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fabled-Lands-1-War-torn-Kingdom/dp/095673720X and show us you care.
(US and continental European readers, don't despair - it can only be a matter of days before the books are available in your territories also.)
*sighs wistfully at these lovely artworks on website and forum*
ReplyDeleteWell, I already pre-ordered the book. *thumb up*
As for an iPad... as much I would deeply love play the game (with very slightly different rule like carrying unlimited amount of possessions!), it is certainly not worth the price tag. :(
At least I can admire the artwork on the forum page and one by Lan-Nhi with thief Lauria over blurry background. :)
Pre-ordered Book 1, as promised :)
ReplyDeleteNow how soon until we can get some statistics on sales? Yes, I'm being partly selfish since I want see those last 6 books!
I figure we won't know for sure how the books are selling until around March next year, but we can get a steer from the Amazon ranking. Every review or listmania mention that the books get will help - in particular our star rating, which doesn't transfer across on Amazon from the 1st edition books, meaning we have to earn those ratings all over again.
ReplyDeletePut 7-12 on there and I'll be buying an Ipad...
