Ahem

The first four new edition FL books are now available for pre-order on Amazon.com. Need I say more?

  1. Awesome news can’t wait to order them !
So does that mean that the Fabled Lands books 7-12 will be out next year?,
Along with the Fabled Lands Role Playing Game + the 12 source books by Greywood Publishing? Will they be available for order through Amazon as well?.

  2. Books 7-12 will be available if 5-10,000 copies of each of 1-6 are sold, so it IS possible. The Court of Hidden Faces and Lords of the Rising Sun will be available in January.

  3. Sweet.

Here's the direct link to the first book on Amazon UK.

  4. There is a minor problem with the book listings. The original books are listed with a "New Series" descriptor, which could prove to be a problem, as it may cause confusion. The description needs more flavor than "A choose-your-own-adventure style...", as Fabled Lands is much more than that :-)

  5. Mike, I guess Amazon handle that. I managed to get the cover image up there, though I'm hoping they'll pull the covers and metadata (including descriptions) from the printers' files.

  6. Anon, I assume the Greywood RPG will be on sale via Amazon. You'd have to check with them, though.

  7. Dave, update the product details yourself. Probably better than hoping Amazon will do something about it. The words 'machine', 'faceless', 'computers', 'naff', 'inhuman' and 'softwear' all spring to mind when it comes to selling on the big river.

  8. Are these altered or expanded in any way from the original editions? Is there any reason to buy ones I already own again (apart from supporting the cause of course)?

  9. Anon: Books 1-4 aren't expanded, although errors and farmable loops were fixed. 5 and 6 may be expanded, as there was mention that ninjas - well, goblin ninjas - might be added to Lords of the Rising Sun. I'm hoping that the castle of The Court of Hidden Faces is expanded upon. Upgradeable defences, hirelings and such could be added, as well as quests that are only received IF you have access to a castle. This was mentioned in the past regarding upgradable living quarters (that still burn down and get looted) and hirelings, but may be delegated to books 7-12. What I wondered was how the land of Dangor will be handled, as it seems to be a single location. You need to be lifted up the Golden Cliffs (?) in order to reach the harbor there.

Don't forget about Dave's Christmas surprise mentioned at this link:

  10. I just know that some people will see the phrase "New Series" in the titles for the OLD books and note that the prices are higher, rather than notice the 2nd Edition Books which are near the end of the list.

By the way, are you able to respond to any posts on my site? I'm not sure if comments are enabled because people are having trouble doing so. My posts entitled "PART 1" and "PART 2" regard print vs e-media and Fabled Lands.

  11. I can certainly reveal that Dangor is a single location - a vast Gormenghast-like city-state that will probably draw on Tibet, Bhutan, Byzantium and the Forbidden City for inspiration. Though that book is still a long way off, if indeed the series continues.

Btw Fabled Lands LLP are setting up a new site called The Spark Furnace that will feature plenty of FL extras (color maps, characters, etc) as well as news and features about our other properties: Dragon Warriors, Blood Sword, Dirk Lloyd and so on. Watch for that in the next few weeks.

Mike, if you're interested in e-books then you may care to try my comic book Mirabilis, which should be out on iPad in time for Christmas. And the first issue is free. Good old Steve Jobs.

  12. Are these books compatible with the American "Quest" books? You never know with some editors...

  13. "Need I say more?"

    Apparently yes, because I suck at Amazon and can only find the first book on amazon.co.uk, but I assume that's just a local site issue and it'll filter through from amazon.com sooner or later (hopefully sooner). ;_;

  14. I believe so. Only the name was changed for American audiences, I'm from the United States myself.

As for Mirabilis, I read the posted sample. Was Abraham Lincoln a Fabled Lands Trau? I'd always imagined that Mithrils had a Trau's face emblazoned upon them. Was Volume 1 of the Graphic Novel released? One thing that I hope, is that ebooks won't replace print titles, as I enjoy the highly glossy, top-notch UK editorial txhat I feel is best served via print. I believe I have sent you my Print Vs. E-Media document when I gave you Doug's contact info. I cannot seem to get the forms in the Heart of Ice download to work. I'm using Adobe Reader 8.0. The PDF itself works perfectly fine so it must be my university's firewall, as the admin mentioned that it was why Amazon won't display properly.

Have you attempted to post to my site? I really want to know if posting works, as comments won't show up on my end.

  15. Hi Brian, yep they are the same books that were released in the USA originally as Quest, so any Quest books you have will interface with these.

And... never fear, I will put up all the links to get these books as soon as they're live. Currently you can find all four on Amazon.com and I'm pretty sure .co.uk will follow very soon.

  16. And Mike - or anybody interested in Mirabilis, hit the links and you can find out where to get it in print (trade paperback in USA, hardback in UK), comic book format (I mean print comic) and the app version as well. Most of these should be out for Christmas.

I know I've seen in other book listings on Amazon.com where they had "author's description" or comments specifically by the author, so Dave Morris would definitely be welcome to expand upon whatever description Amazon itself provided. I'm going to Amazon now to look at the listings for Books 2-4 (I've already wishlisted Book 1).

  18. Hi Catherine, I'm going to give that a go. Any changes should come through on Amazon within a week or so.

  19. Just posted a review on Amazon.co.uk (ofc based on the old books) - hope it helps things!

  20. It helps a very great deal, Alberto, thank you. The new editions won't carry over existing reviews and ratings on Amazon and elsewhere, so we're totally relying on the generosity of FL readers to give us a whole new bunch of reviews for the 2nd edition.

  21. Thanks Dave! I'll do the same for the other 5 once amazon.co.uk updates it's catalogue.
